I know it’s too late to start a podcast. I know there’s already a sea of them. But I’m making one anyway. Because, for a long time, I’ve been wanting to have conversations with people my age (56) about being this age.
After some analysis of the situation, it seems like there are three distinct stages of this time of life:
1. Middle-aged crazy. (We’ve all heard stories.)
2. Middle-aged lazy. (What Caddis eyewear marketing copy describes as “the long process of giving up.”)
3. And the stage I’m in right now. Which is, What’s next? What is worth doing?
In the first episode of Gen X at Midlife, I talk to a popular Substack writer named Cintra Wilson. Cintra releases short audio recordings of herself reading essays she’s written for the NY Times, Salon.com, etc. She is great at analyzing popular culture. But most importantly, the recordings are fun. And the way she delivers them is priceless.
Cintra and I have a frank discussion about what we’re experiencing at this point in life. I hope you find it interesting and relatable.
